Arkansas sees 437 new cases of covid-19; hospitalizations decline

Positive tests, hospitalizations show declines, Health Department says

The state's active covid-19 cases and hospitalizations declined Sunday, according to data from the Arkansas Department of Health.

As of Sunday, 917,061 cases have been reported since the start of the pandemic. That number increased by 437 Sunday, which is down from Saturday's increase of 891.

The rolling seven-day average of new daily cases was 893, down from last Sunday's average of 982.

There have been 893,105 covid-19 recoveries in the state since the start of the pandemic. That number increased by 533 from Saturday. There have been 7,844 recoveries reported over the past week.

Active cases declined by 116 Sunday, bringing the total number to 11,904. According to data, active cases are down 1,650 from last Sunday's 13,554 -- still above the six-week low in active cases of 11,7666 reported Thursday.

Hospitalizations dropped by 12 from Saturday for a total of 339. Data showed hospitalizations are lower than last month's low of 337 reported July 22.

The number of patients in intensive care units decreased by 12 from Saturday, which is a one-month low for the 44 intensive care unit patients reported July 11.

There were two more people on ventilators Sunday, bringing the total number to 19. The lowest number of Arkansans on ventilators for August remains 15, which was reported Aug. 3.

No new deaths were reported Sunday. There have been 11,822 deaths since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The death toll rolling seven-day average is 8.43, up from Sunday's 6.29 average daily reported covid-19 deaths. Sunday marks the fourth consecutive day with a daily average death toll of 8.43, the highest average in four months.

The number of Arkansans fully vaccinated since last Sunday rose by 2,423 bringing the total number to 1,655,647.

There have been 814,405 boosters administered in the state. That number increased by 5,983 since last Sunday.

Pulaski County was leading the state with 67 covid-19 cases Sunday. Union County followed with 47 and Craighead County reported 30 cases.
