How About A Listen? 'Look What I Did' with Daniel Quin, Aaron Dotson

Daniel Quin and Aaron Dotson’s “Look at What I Did” podcast gives listeners the chance to “get to know ‘the who’ behind the things you love.” “It’s really become a show about the people and not about the activity, and I think it was the right move, even if accidental,” Quin shares.

Did you know we have a plethora of funny, educational, captivating and insightful podcasts produced and hosted by the amazing talent in our own Northwest Arkansas? In this series, we'll continue to highlight some of these local offerings, so keep an eye (or an ear) out for something that may tickle your fancy.

'Look What I Did: Conversations with Creators'

Every other week, the hosts of "Look What I Did" sit down with a different creative person and talk about what they do, why they do it and what makes them tick, both personally and professionally. Really, host Daniel Quin admits, the show is an excuse to pick interesting brains and hopefully grow as a listener, too -- to get to know "the who" behind the things you love.

Q: In what ways did 2020 impact your show or your process?

Quin: We were compelled to learn new ways of recording the show and that had some real ups and downs. We tried to do a Facebook live show and almost immediately had technical problems, so we just had to scrap the plan. That was ... not fun. But at the same time we suddenly had this freedom to interview anyone. One day I reached out to Jimmy Diresta, who is pretty big in the maker world on YouTube and is part of the "Making It" show on NBC. He's always been a bit of a white whale for us, and he said yes. So we did the show with him, and it was absolutely fantastic. You just have to look at the constraints and say, "What does this allow me to turn my focus to?"

Q: Who would be a dream guest for the show, or dream topic to discuss for an upcoming episode?

Quin: I think [special effects designer, and former co-host of "MythBusters"] Adam Savage has got to be pretty high up there. You know, the shows that have always been some of the most fun are the ones where I came into the subject not knowing anything and just learning the whole time.

Q: What's next?

Quin: We've talked for a long time about turning the show into a YouTube format where Aaron and I try to do the things we've learned about over the years. I think it could be very funny and hopefully a little inspiring. Trust me, if we can do something, literally anybody can!
