Firm picked to market heritage tourism

The Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotion Commission selected The Design Group for heritage tourism/destination marketing, according to a news release.

The agency will lead the commission's rebranding of content based on unique culture and historical narratives, facilitate a development strategy for place-making and launch an advertising campaign that supports destination marketing.

"I am excited to build a partnership with The Design Group that will help Pine Bluff become a distinct travel destination," A&P Director Sheri Storie said. "We've seen how cultural and heritage tourism has positively impacted large and small cities around the country, from Virginia City, Montana, to Clarksdale, Mississippi, to New Orleans, Louisiana. Likewise, Pine Bluff has a powerful and fascinating history, and most of our stories have gone untold -- until now. It's time we share the stories of the courageous men and women who lived and worked in the Delta Lowlands, the people who called this place home."

Myron Jackson is CEO of The Design Group.

"As the state's only full-service, multicultural communications agency, The Design Group is uniquely positioned to assist the A&P Commission with building a brand that changes the perception of Pine Bluff and ultimately strengthens the economic revitalization already taking place," Jackson said.
