4-way stop planned south of Jonesboro

A four-way stop will be installed Wednesday at the intersection of Harrisburg and East Lawson roads just south of Jonesboro in Craighead County, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

The stop signs will be installed for both northbound and southbound traffic on Harrisburg Road, also called Arkansas 163, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting, to go along with stop signs already in place for eastbound and westbound traffic on East Lawson road, also called Arkansas 158.

The stop signs will remain in place until a rural roundabout is built and traffic is switched to the new configuration, which is expected to be within about two months, the department said.
