FORT SMITH -- A $32.3 million anonymous gift to the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education will go toward health and wellness initiatives in Fort Smith and elsewhere.

Susan Devero, executive director of marketing, communications and community relations for the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, said Tuesday this donation will go toward renovations for the ACHE Research Institute Health and Wellness Center in Fort Smith, which recently began, as well as a variety of programs that will take place there.

Kyle Parker, chief executive officer of ACHE, said in a Tuesday news release that this donation will help the institution continue to fulfill its mission more quickly.

"We are not just studying problems; we are creating solutions," Parker said.

The initial phase of renovations is expected to be finished in December 2022, according to the news release.
