Lane closings set for BV Bypass work

BENTONVILLE -- Construction of the new Bella Vista Bypass interchange with Interstate 49 requires periodic lane closings on U.S. 71/Walton Boulevard for most of the week, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.

Weather permitting, crews will stop all lanes of traffic for 15-minute intervals on U.S. 71/Walton Boulevard between Northwest Lowes Avenue and the temporary traffic signal on Walton Boulevard. Crews will erect structural steel for a new bridge over the road between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Work will conclude Friday morning.

Traffic will be controlled by traffic cones, construction barrels, traffic lights, signs and police enforcement.

Construction to build the new interchange also requires lane closings on I-49.

Weather permitting, crews will close the outside southbound lane of I-49 just south of the Bella Vista Bypass interchange. The closing will be from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday for saw cutting operations to widen the southbound I-49 acceleration lane.

Traffic will be controlled by signs, construction barrels and police enforcement.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
