Vandy game still on

FAYETTEVILLE -- University of Arkansas Coach Eric Musselman said Thursday that he expects the Razorbacks to play Vanderbilt on Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tenn., as scheduled.

"We're going to prepare for Vandy," Musselman said before Thursday's practice. "We're anticipating playing the game."

Vanderbilt postponed its scheduled game against Texas A&M on Wednesday night because of a combination of positive tests for covid-19, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the basketball program, according to a news release on Tuesday.

The postponement raised the question of whether the Commodores would have enough players available to play Arkansas, but a post on Vanderbilt's website Thursday featured a story headlined "Awaiting Arkansas" that previews the game.

Both teams underwent tests for covid-19 Thursday, and the results will determine if the game is played.

Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek said Thursday the game is on as far as he knows and that no Razorbacks in any sport currently had tested positive for covid-19.
