Snow expected tonight in Northwest Arkansas

Snow is expected to arrive in Northwest Arkansas this evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The highest elevations of the Boston Mountains could see between three and five inches of snow, while most of Washington and Benton counties is forecast to only receive an inch or less, the service said on its site.

Lower terrain in Madison and Carroll counties is predicted to get between one and three inches.

Most of the winter weather is expected to arrive in Madison and Carroll counties between 4 and 8 p.m. and Washington and Benton counties after 7 p.m., according to the service.

Rain is expected across the region throughout the afternoon and evening. A wintry mix could continue into early Thursday morning before moving to eastern Oklahoma, according to the service.

A high temperature of 45 degrees and a low of 32 is forecast Wednesday for Fayetteville.
