School news: Universities honor top scholars

UAFS

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will celebrate Homecoming 2021 Feb. 22-27 with a blend of virtual and in-person events.

Homecoming basketball games will take place at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 27 for the Lady Lions and at 5:30 p.m. for the Lions at Stubblefield Center. Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned between games.

University of Tampa

Caroline Henry of Rogers earned Dean's List honors at the University of Tampa for the fall 2020 semester. Henry is a sophomore majoring in psychology. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the Dean's List.

Located in Tampa, Fla., the University of Tampa is a private university with some 10,000 students from 50 states and about 130 countries.

Nebraska-Lincoln

Nearly 6,800 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year. Among them are:

Fayetteville: Joseph Jonathan Broadway, senior, College of Engineering, mechanical engineering.

Rogers: Abigail Jayne Liddell, senior, College of Business, finance.

Rogers: Kathryn Helen Liddell, freshman, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, hospitality, restaurant and tourism management.

JBU

John Brown University student Seth Billingsley is one of three college students from across the nation who has been awarded the Hatfield Prize from the Center for Public Justice. The Hatfield Prize, part of CPJ's Shared Justice initiative, awards funding to three student-faculty pairs from Council for Christian Colleges & Universities institutions to conduct research on a social policy that impacts the well-being of children, families and communities.

Billingsley, a senior international business and political science major, will research food insecurity and the response of faith-based organizations and houses of worship in Northwest Arkansas. He will be advised by JBU Associate Professor of Political Science Daniel Bennett, Ph.D.

Hatfield Prize recipients will spend January to June conducting research and writing, and the reports will be published in September 2021.

UALR

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock announces its fall 2020 Chancellor's List, recognizing students with superior academic performance in the semester.

More than 725 UA Little Rock students were named to the Chancellor's List for the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible for the Chancellor's List, students must earn at least nine credit hours and at least a 3.9 grade point average.

Freed-Hardeman

Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn., has released the names of students who made the President's and Dean's Lists for the 2020 fall semester.

To be on the President's List, a student must be full-time and have a 4.0 grade point average. Students on the Dean's List have earned a minimum 3.4 grade point average for the semester.

FHU congratulates the following students who have been named to the lists:

Abigail McCain, a sophomore photography and art graphic design and art graphic design major from Centerton, has been named to the Dean's List.

Hannah Stevens, a senior special education interventionist major from Springdale, has been named to the President's List.
