Man accused of rape held in jail on $500,000 cash-only bond

BENTONVILLE -- Benton County Circuit Judge Robin Green revoked the bond of an Avoca man accused of raping three children after he was seen watching children play in a park.

Fred Kimball, 81, was arrested Oct. 1 in connection with three counts of rape. Prosecutors haven't filed formal charges against him.

He was released Oct. 2 on $250,000 bond from the Benton County Jail. Circuit Judge Brad Karren required Kimball to wear a wrist monitor and he only leave his home for medical appointments or work, according to court documents.

Sarah Rinehart, deputy prosecutor, filed a motion Oct. 16 to revoke Kimball's bond and he was arrested last week.

Green held a hearing Monday on the bond revocation issue.

Kimball is accused of violating parole when he left his residence Oct. 12 and went to the Avoca City Park where he's accused of watching children play, according to Rinehart's motion.

Kimball is accused before his first arrest of approaching a 15-year-old girl who was alone in the park and inviting her to his home, exchanging text messages with her, offering her a job and buying food for the girl and her family, according to court documents.

The judge revoked Kimball's bond and set a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Kimball is accused of raping three women when they were children, according to the probable cause affidavit. One of the women was 13 years old when she said Kimball sexually abused her, according to the affidavit.

His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 9.
