ASU splits in Louisiana

Arkansas State University split its matches with host Louisiana-Lafayette (12-4, 6-4 Sun Belt) on Friday, falling 3-1 in the first match before winning the second by the same score.

Madison Brown tallied a career-high 34 kills to lead the Red Wolves (6-4, 6-4) in the second match. Brown's 34 kills are the most by a player in Division I this season. Her mark was five kills shy of the school record of 39 set in 1997 by Beth Cochran.

Brown led the Red Wolves with 15 kills to go along with 2 blocks and 5 digs in the first match. Lauren Musante had 41 assists to go with 8 digs and 2 blocks.

Texas State tops UALR

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock won a set over a ranked opponent for the first time since 2014, but the Trojans's upset bid against No. 15 Texas State fell short in a 27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 28-26 loss Friday in San Marcos, Texas.

Laura Jansen led the Trojans (1-10, 1-9 Sun Belt) with 15 kills and 20 digs, and Nicole Medlin had a career-high 13 kills.

Texas State (13-1, 8-0) was led by Janell Fitzgerald's 23 kills.
