Weekend wrecks on state roads kill four people, police say

At least four people died in three separate accidents over the weekend.

A juvenile male was killed in Cleburne County on Sunday when a utility terrain vehicle he was driving overturned.

The boy, age unknown, was driving a 2013 Polaris Ranger eastbound on the 100 block of Sherrill King Drive at about 7 p.m. when it left and reentered the roadway before turning over on its side, according to a report by Arkansas State Police. The boy was pronounced dead at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs.

The weather conditions were clear and the road conditions were dry, according to the report.

Tony Ray Young, 58, of Mineral Springs died in an accident on Arkansas 27 in Howard County on Saturday in a collision with another vehicle about 11:35 p.m., according to a preliminary accident report.

A man and woman, both from Mena, were killed Saturday when their SUV struck a tree, state troopers said.

John Kendrick, 64, was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer north on U.S. 71 in Waldron at about 3:25 p.m. when the vehicle drove off the right side of the road, struck a telephone pole and hit a tree, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary crash report.

Shalotta Daniel, 41, a passenger in the vehicle, also was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash, according to the report.
