Arkansas defeats Mississippi State

The University of Arkansas (1-0) defeated Mississippi State (0-1) 18-25, 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 15-11 on Saturday in Starkville, Miss.

Jillian Gillen led the Razorbacks with 21 kills and 30 digs. Gracie Ryan had 49 assists.

ASU drops Texas Arlington

Arkansas State University (5-3, 5-3 Sun Belt) defeated Texas Arlington (5-1, 5-1), 21-25, 25-23, 28-26, 25-20 on Saturday in Arlington, Texas.

The Red Wolves were led by Madison Brown, who had 19 kills. Lauren Musante had 47 assists and 21 digs.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

UCA wins Little Rock Open

The University of Central Arkansas won the Little Rock Open on Saturday at War Memorial Park in Little Rock.

The Bears finished with 26 points, while the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was second with 41. Arkansas State University was fourth with 117 and Philander Smith was seventh with 193 points.

Individually, Spenser Cardinal of UALR finished second in 26 minutes, 1 second on the 8,000-meter course. UCA's Jared Touart was third in 26:21.6. Andrew Payton of UALR was fourth in 26:30.4 and UCA's Thomas Cain was fifth in 26:34.7. ASU's Coleman Wilson was the top Red Wolves' runner with a 14th-place finish in 27:53.5. Desmond Merritt of Philander Smith finished 31st in 29:34.8.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

UCA second ahead of UALR, ASU

The University of Central Arkansas finished second at the Little Rock Open on Saturday at War Memorial Park in Little Rock.

The Bears finished 40 points, behind Missouri State's 29. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock was third with 83 points. Arkansas State University was fourth with 106 and Philander Smith was ninth with 261.

Tamara Reeves of Central Arkansas finished third in 18:36.5 on the 5,000-meter course. Kennedy Timmerman of Central Arkansas was fifth in 18:41.5. Mia Patria of UALR finished seventh in 18:44.1. Sophia Oury of Arkansas State was eighth in 19:07.0 and Anna Jeffocat of Central Arkansas was 10th in 19:14.1.
