Health care businesses gets awards

Northwest Health was recognized with an Arkansas Governor's Quality Award during the 26th annual awards celebration Oct. 6 in Little Rock. Northwest Health received the achievement award level. Achievement award recipients earned the third of four award levels before the highest award.

Avenir Memory Care of Fayetteville and Quadrivium of Springdale received challenge awards during the ceremony.

Northwest Medical Center of Springdale earns accreditation

Northwest Medical Center -- Springdale's Emergency Department has achieved the gold standard Level I accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians' Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation program.

The program is part of an effort to improve and standardize emergency care for the nation's older patients. The program includes three levels with specific criteria and goals for clinicians and administrators. Requirements begin with demonstrating the emergency department includes a physician and nurse with specialized geriatric training on staff, meets environmental criteria such as easy patient access to water and mobility aids and has a geriatric quality improvement program.
