Scholarship pays tribute to student

FAYETTEVILLE -- The parents of a University of Arkansas, Fayetteville student who died in a 2018 car crash have established a scholarship in her name for other UA students.

The Jenee T. Dill Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established with gifts to the university totaling $80,000 from Joe and Kim Dill as well as from other donors who wish to remain anonymous, said UA spokeswoman Jennifer Holland.

The university, in announcing the scholarship, described Dill as a frequent volunteer who helped out at assisted living centers, homeless shelters and food banks.

"Jenée loved to help people and rescue animals. We trust she would want to offer this for others," Kim Dill said in a statement released by the university.

Jenee Dill was 22 when she died. She was a senior studying in UA's School of Environmental Sciences. The scholarship will go to a sophomore, junior or senior studying in the school, with preference given to students in either the food, nutrition and health program or the human nutrition and dietetics program.

Preference will also be given to graduates from The Covenant School in Dallas, which Dill attended, according to obituary information, and students who are active in community service.

The university, in announcing the scholarship, described Dill as a volunteer for many efforts, including homeless shelters and her church.
