NWA Letters to the Editor

Why not hire employees already in NW Arkansas?

I'm not sure if you've seen this latest campaign funded by the Waltons, but I've just been made aware of a so-called "Talent Incentive" featured by FindingNWA.com with the advertising title "Life Works Here" offering grants up to $10,000 per household to move in from out of state. They even offer them a free bicycle. Yes, you read that correctly. Yippee.

Now, I totally understand people doing whatever they need to do to take care of themselves and their families, but have the people who run FindingNWA or the Waltons themselves ever considered looking within their own communities first? Especially now that so many people in Northwest Arkansas are already struggling because of the pandemic?

Corporations dropping large sums of money to import even more gentrifiers just seems like a massive kick in the teeth to so many folks already in the area who are in need of support and resources. If you actually needed new employees that badly, then you'd have looked locally first.

Setting up task force in crisis comes too late

Talk about trying to close the barn door after the horses got out. Not only did the horses get out and wander back in the barn; the barn burned down. Time for studies? Really!

Is Gov. Hutchinson for real? The task force was required in March. P to the 5th, times M: Prior planning prevents piss poor management. I used it to turn around the most corrupt law enforcement agency in California.

How many people have the Republican leaders killed? Hmm? This state is filled with veterans, who swore an oath to not leave anyone behind. Well, our leaders did!

While many Americans have been inculcated with QAnon and conspiracy theories, we allowed leaders to drag their feet, in hopes that herd immunity would kill off only enough to keep the economy going to re-elect Don Trump.

The evangelicals demanded an end to abortion, then followed inept leaders who cared more about worshiping the golden calf than saving human lives. Quite a tradeoff.

My father always said: Be careful what you wish for and who you follow.

Republicans, tell Trump he's fired

I am 81 and have never written a letter to the editor nor have I been much involved in politics except to vote. I have five grandchildren and am very worried about this country.

If President Trump were an employee in the normal world, he would be fired for dereliction of duties for the way he has and has not handled this pandemic. The president was not re-elected, but he was not fired. Now he is meddling in dangerous waters.

Pandemics and wars should not go together. Republicans, you need to fire this man.
