Christmas is coming to the Branson Star Theater, and it's Stevie Lee Woods who is making this year's list and checking it twice.

A veteran musician whose family tree includes father Buddy Woods, a lead guitarist who worked as a sideman for such artists as Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs and Eddie Arnold, Stevie Lee Woods is the host of the "Nashville Roadhouse Live" at the Star Theater on West 76 Country Boulevard. Selected Silver Best New Show for 2020 by the Best of Branson voters, it's a "nonstop entertainment Mecca," he says, with "an all-star band and world-class dancers." And starting with Aaron Tippin Nov. 11, all of Woods' old friends from country and rock 'n' roll are coming to visit -- "Wynonna, Collin Raye, Jo Dee Messina, Steve Miller Band, ZZ Top and more," he says. "You never know who might show up!"

Woods was born and raised in Bluefield, Va., with brothers David and Greg, also musicians. In the 1990s, he moved to Nashville, Tenn., and it was, he says, a good decision. He got a record deal in 1993, released two singles, one of which went to No. 1 on what was then called the Cash Box Charts, and he landed major representation by such agencies as Buddy Lee Attractions and World Class Talent in Nashville.

Woods started touring with names like Lorrie Morgan, John Michael Montgomery, Martina McBride, Diamond Rio and Brooks and Dunn; was an annual guest on the Country Across America Tour; and took his music worldwide with artists such as Freddy Fender and Grand Ole Opry members Del Reeves and Jim Ed Brown. He appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and even hosted his own television show, "Today's Hot Country," on the USA Network in the 1990s.

And then, he brought it all to a halt. Ailing family members needed him at home, he says, and he gave up touring, hoping he would come back to music when he could. Not only has he found his niche in Branson, he's got a new single, "Go Home and Get Lonely Tonight," from his album "California Girls have Gone Country," and he's busy bringing back the "all for one and one for all feel [in Branson], as we help promote each others' shows and events," he says.

"We ask many of the local Branson stars to come to 'Nashville Roadhouse Live' and promote their show and perform a song or two and join us on radio," he says. "A lot has changed for all of us with the pandemic. We have learned to make the best of it -- or try to. Crowds have been smaller, so we are now offering online virtual shows beginning Nov. 11 in conjunction with iTickets, [and] our upcoming Christmas shows will keep it traditional for Christmas, but will not be all Christmas. It will be our show with Christmas mixed in, so you will hear a variety of it all."

The Star Theater is also home to Phil Dalton: Theater of Illusions; David Brooks: The Piano Man Experience; "Elvis and I" starring Daniel Jenkins from Las Vegas; "Out of the Basement" with Brian Clarke; "Jukebox Live" with Mark Aldred; Nathan Bryce: "Voodoo Child," a rock 'n' roll and blues tribute to the greats; "Masters of the Unusual," a collection of "the most amazing, talented, and unusual world class acts that have appeared on a variety of TV shows and on stage in Vegas"; and Barbara Fairchild Ministries.

"You will definitely be entertained and hear songs that will satisfy your musical palette, whatever it is."
