I-630 lanes in Little Rock to shut for striping

Placement of permanent pavement markings on a recently widened section of Interstate 630 in west Little Rock will require daily lane closings through June 5, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews began Wednesday alternately closing the middle and outside lanes of I-630 between Baptist Health Drive and South University Avenue to allow for the work between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

The striping also includes areas on Interstate 430 within the I-430/I-630 interchange between South Shackleford and North Rodney Parham roads, the department said. Traffic will be controlled with construction barrels and signs.

The work is part of an $87.4 million project that widened a 2.2-mile section of I-630 between South University Avenue and the I-430/I-630 interchange. It was considered substantially completed last month.
