Man surrenders in Little Rock shooting

A North Little Rock man turned himself in to Little Rock police detectives Monday evening and was charged in connection with a May 16 shooting in the 5600 block of Baseline Road.

The Little Rock Police Department's Twitter account had announced Thursday that Laurenco Marquis Lee, 21, was wanted as a suspect in the weekend shooting, which injured a 33-year-old man.

Lee was charged with first-degree battery, police said.

According to an incident report, the victim told officers that he was walking home from the liquor store when someone shot at him, striking him in both thighs.

Officers later viewed security footage of the area, which they said showed the victim getting into an argument with a black male at the location of the shooting.

Little Rock man arrested after I-430 chase

Arkansas State Police arrested a 20-year-old man Monday after they say he led officers on a chase on Interstate 430.

Arthur Lamont Joyner of Little Rock was seen speeding and driving the wrong way down Colonel Glenn Road by police shortly before 6 a.m., according to an arrest report. They pursued Joyner onto the interstate with their lights and sirens on, according to the report, and witnessed him swerve through three lanes of traffic.

After Joyner "brake checked," he allegedly lost control of his car and attempted to flee on foot before being arrested by a State Police trooper, the report states.

Joyner was charged with fleeing, reckless driving, driving without a license and driving the wrong way.

Petition at store deemed trespass

A Miami man collecting petition signatures outside a North Little Rock Walmart was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing Monday after police say he refused to leave the store's parking lot.

Marcello Rodriguez, 20, was attempting to collect signatures outside the store on Maumelle Boulevard about noon when police were called because the store manager said he refused to leave, according to an arrest report.

Police said they twice asked Rodriguez to leave the property, and each time he walked farther into the parking lot away from the store, the report states.

Officers said they told Rodriguez to leave a third time, and when he refused, they arrested him and charged him with criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor.

Rodriguez was taken to the Pulaski County Jail, where he was no longer listed in the custody roster Monday evening.
