Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis forests close recreation areas, campgrounds

Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis national forests officials have closed the forests' recreational areas and campgrounds in response to the covid-19 pandemic.

Some recreation areas will be shutdown immediately. Other campgrounds and cabins that have not yet opened for the season will remain closed.

Dispersed camping is still available at both forests, but all restrooms at the Ouachita National Forest have been closed, according to a press release.

Reservation holders will be notified via email and/or cell phone text messages of any changes affecting their reservations. Visitors will receive a full refund for their reservation, according to the release.
