BENTONVILLE -- The Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved plans for a tire business.

Discount Tire will be at 3501 S.E. Macy Road. The development was the only new business item on the agenda. Plans call for a 8,192-square-foot tire retail store. The development will provide 41 parking spots, landscaping and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk, according to planning documents.

The development requested one waiver related to curb cuts. The city's land development code requires curb cuts are no closer than 250 feet from the right of way of an intersection that involves a major or minor arterial to the center line of the drive. A 187-foott waiver was approved 7-0.

A public hearing also was held for a planned unit development amendment for J3 Apartments at Southeast J and Southeast Third streets. No one spoke for or against the item, but applicant Applejack LLC in Fayetteville provided three letters of support from surrounding property owners, according to planning documents.

The commission also approved several items via consent agenda, including property line adjustments at 210 Old Whayne Road and 308 S.W. D St., and developments for 7th & B Townhomes, 230 S.E. Seventh St.; Scooter's Coffee, 1253 S.W. Regional Airport Blvd.; and a Kentucky Fried Chicken at 1618 E. Centerton Blvd. A rezoning and lot split for the KFC property also were approved.

The commission also voted to table land development code updates.
