Walmart Inc. has selected Sam's Club executive Jamie Iannone to head operations of its U.S. e-commerce business, according to a company memo. Iannone started his new job Friday, the memo stated.

Iannone's appointment is the latest in a corporate reshuffling. The Bentonville-based retailer has said it's integrating its store and online buying teams to be more customer-driven.

In six years at Sam's Club, Walmart's membership warehouse division, Iannone served most recently as chief executive officer of SamsClub.com. His new role will entail overseeing Walmart.com's marketplace, e-commerce merchandising operations and Store No. 8, Walmart's startup incubator.

Marc Lore, chief executive of U.S. e-commerce, said in the memo that Iannone "has grown both the SamsClub.com business and Sam's Club's membership base, which ended [fiscal 2020] with record-high e-commerce growth." Iannone will report to Lore and Walmart U.S. Chief Executive Officer John Furner.

Lore said a chief operating officer for Sam's Club will be named "in the near future."
