Would skin color change response to gun carrying?

As I watched the protests this last week in Minneapolis and now throughout America, I have to wonder what the reaction would have been if, while peacefully protesting, there were groups of African-Americans and Muslim men with assault rifles slung over their shoulders.

Would they get the support of the same people who said the Michigan men protesting the stay-at-home orders received as they carried their assault rifles into the state office buildings? I am guessing they would not and the police would have reacted much differently and potentially lethally.

Poultry business gets 'unfair rap' on covid-19

I work as a production worker in a poultry plant. Believe me, every step possible is taken to ensure our safety regarding covid-19 or regular safety to prevent accidents. I believe people who are getting covid-19 are not getting it at work. I wonder if it occurs to anyone that people are intentionally getting it to lay up from work and still get paid. The poultry industry is getting an unfair rap as I do not believe there is any more they can do to protect people. The same phenomena has been occurring in the prison systems.

Also, in response to letter writer Phyllis Johnson's comments regarding my letter regarding obesity: Trump and Pompeo should have plenty of money to eat healthy and yet seem to be overweight. Again, I will stress that your immune system needs a healthy body to withstand illnesses that come along. Being overweight is not conducive to that.

Paper on iPad great for longtime reader

I have been a newspaper reader pretty much all of my life except for my years in the Navy. Papers included the Oakland Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, the Fresno Bee, the Wall Street Journal and, of course, the Democrat-Gazette. Until I had shoulder surgery almost two years ago, I always read the hard copy of the paper. After the surgery, I subscribed to the e-edition of the paper and have been reading it on my computer ever since.

On June 2, I picked up the iPad from the Democrat-

Gazette and after getting used to all the options, I read the paper on it. It was great. I applaud your publisher, Walter Hussman Jr., for making this change.

I hope my paper carrier, Kelly, who has been so reliable, will be able to find employment elsewhere if going online affects his current job.
