Historic bridge
The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will conduct its noon Friday Sandwiching in History tour of the Junction Bridge in Little Rock's Riverfront Park, via Facebook Watch Party at facebook.com/ARHistoricPreservation. Historians will be available to answer questions.
The Union Pacific Railroad carried trains over the bridge, originally built in 1884 with later alterations, across the Arkansas River until 1984. In 2001, it was adapted for bike and pedestrian use, connecting the River Market in Little Rock to the arena area in downtown North Little Rock.
Historic glasses
"I Can See Clearly Now," a look at 20th-century glasses, sunglasses, cases, accessories, photos and what a news release calls "quirky surprises," opens Tuesday and runs through Sept. 13 at Esse Purse Museum, 1510 Main St., Little Rock. Guests must wear face coverings and maintain 6-foot social distance. Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. Butterfly redux
In the wake of the cancellation of its spring production of Giuseppe's Verdi's La Traviata, Opera in the Rock is streaming its 2019 production of Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly, available 7 p.m. June 12 through 11:59 p.m. June 14 via YouTube and on the opera company website, oitr.org. It's free to stream. Soprano Francesca Mondanaro sang the role of Cio-Cio San, aka Butterfly, with Daniel Foltz-Morrison as Pinkerton, Sarah Stankiewicz Dailey as Suzuki and Theodor Carlson as Sharpless. Geoffrey Robson conducted the on-stage Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
