FAYETTEVILLE -- The Pan-American Cyclocross Championships, scheduled in November at Centennial Park, is canceled because of the pandemic.

Experience Fayetteville, the city's tourism bureau, made the announcement Tuesday.

"These decisions are never easy, but they are important," said Molly Rawn, chief executive director of Experience Fayetteville. "Our concern is always the health and safety of our community and visitors."

FayetteCross 2021 is still on for October next year, as is the 2022 UCI World Championships. Both events will be at Centennial Park, north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and west of Interstate 49, at Millsap Mountain.

Parkven Productions is the group behind all three events.

"We made the decision to cancel in the interest of the health of athletes, spectators and the entire community of Northwest Arkansas," said Brook Watts, president of Parkven Productions.
