Pet of the Week

Cody is our pet of the week.
Cody is our pet of the week.

Cody has been on our radar for a while. While assessing other dogs at the shelter they often have play groups in their dog parks, and Cody was always one that stood out. When he became available, I had to go see him, and he has lived up to all my hopes of the dog he would be. He is great with medium and larger dogs. Cody likes to play and can be too much for smaller dogs at times. He is a little hesitant of people at first, but he warms up quickly and is all about being a velcro dog when he does. He is a goofy and lovable pup. Cody is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. His adoption fee is $250. Cody is receiving obedience training in the Paws in Prison program. His expected graduation date is July 31. The dogs in this program are trained under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards, and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. For that reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive his training journal which documents his arrival at the unit, daily training progress, and interactions with his trainers. If you're interested in meeting Cody or learning more about the adoption process, please submit an online adoption application.

Canine Close-Up

Karma is back with us after being returned. Karma can be protective and that attributed to her return. With that said, Karma is a very loving pup who loves attention once she warms up. She is now with a foster family that is working hard to help her socialize. She is really opening up and is learning to trust humans again. If Karma is given the right opportunity, we know her true, loving personality will emerge. She will need some time and patience, but Karma is still a great dog and companion. Karma would do best in a home with no cats and should do fine with other dogs after slow introductions. Plus, Karma absolutely loves the dog park. Karma is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200

Cody and friends can be adopted through CARE for Animals. More information is available at (501) 603-2273 and careforanimals.org.
