Late push propels Henderson State

Rel Johnson's free throw with 18 seconds left broke a tie as Henderson State University earned a 67-63 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday in Arkadelphia.

Raekwon Rogers had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Reddies (14-4, 9-3 Great American Conference), who remained unbeaten at home this season. Chris Owens added 11 points and five rebounds.

Kevin Buckingham powered Southeastern Oklahoma State (15-4, 9-3) with 33 points and 11 rebounds.

In other Great American Conference men's games Saturday, Jalen Brooks had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Aaron Lucas scored 16 and Decante Brooks had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Southern Arkansas University (9-9, 6-6) in a 57-54 victory over Southern Nazarene (14-6, 8-4) in Magnolia. ... KJ Lesure scored 23 points and Austin Hardy added 15 points for the University of Arkansas-Monticello (11-8, 5-7) in an 80-77 loss to Oklahoma Baptist (12-6, 7-5) in Magnolia. ... R.J. Three-spree powers Lyon

Lyon College (12-7, 9-4 American Midwest Conference) made a season-high 14 three-pointers and converted on its final six free-throw attempts en route to a 72-68 victory over Missouri Baptist University (12-7, 8-5) on Saturday in St. Louis.

Grant Patterson led all scorers with a career-high 20 points for Lyon.

John Brown wins in a rout

Luke Harper hit back-to-back three-pointers to cap a 21-4 run after halftime for John Brown University (18-2, 9-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) in a 94-68 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State (4-14, o-10) on Saturday in Goodwell, Okla.

Brown keys victory for Harding

Cheyenne Brown finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and made the tying and go-ahead free throws with 20 seconds left as Harding University edged Southwestern Oklahoma State 64-63 on Saturday in Searcy.

Jordan Elder added 13 points and Amanda Kearney scored 12 points for Harding (11-7, 8-4 Great American Conference), which won its fourth consecutive game.

Makyra Tramble paced Southwestern Oklahoma State (12-6, 7-5) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

In other Great American Conference women's games Saturday, Sarah Heard had 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Jayana Sanders added 13 points and 5 rebounds for Arkansas Tech University (11-5, 8-4) in a 70-51 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State (9-9, 5-7) in Russellville. ... Madison Riley led Lyon College (17-2, 13-1 American Midwest Conference) with 28 points and 11 rebounds, and Liz Henderson added 21 points and 8 rebounds in a 79-56 victory over Missouri Baptist University (6-12, 6-8) on Saturday in St. Louis.

John Brown wins in Oklahoma

Tarrah Stephens had 15 points, and Taylor Fergen had 13 points and 10 rebounds for John Brown University (6-13, 2-8 Sooner Athletic Conference) in a 69-56 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State (5-14, 0-10) in Goodwell, Okla.

Arkansas falls to Texas A&M

Sprinter Anna Hopkin earned two first-place finishes and teamed up to win another event to pace the University of Arkansas in a 162-130 loss to Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Hopkin won the 50 freestyle in 22.42 seconds before winning the 100 freestyle in 49.01 seconds to earn an NCAA 'B' cut time. Hopkin closed out the meet with teammates Emma Hultquist, Kobie Melton and Molly Moore to win the 400 free relay by more than 3 seconds.

TRACK AND FIELD

Wright leads UALR men

University of Arkansas at Little Rock freshman Elijah Wright earned the third-fastest time in school history in the 400 meters, finishing in 48.33 seconds to place third and lead the men's team at the Green and Gold Invitational on Saturday in Birmingham, Ala.

Anthony Puerta placed third in the 3,000 with a time of 9:07.62.

For the women's team, Mia Dunning took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 1.25 inches.
