Jab at Pelosi's patriotism

inflames, not appropriate

I am incensed by your editorial on Wednesday, Jan. 8, that supposedly attempts to get your readers to "ease" their concerns regarding a potential World War III scenario brought about by the drone attack aftermath.

Educating the population about the legislative requirements to reinitiate the draft is one thing. Using your editorial powers to take a swipe at Nancy Pelosi's patriotism is quite another. Your question, "Can you imagine Nancy Pelosi's pals in Congress passing such legislation just now?" only serves to inflame the divisiveness our country is currently experiencing.

Do you seriously think that the speaker of the House would ever entertain preventing our country from being able to adequately defend itself?

Way to use a serious topic to take a cheap shot at a politician you obviously loathe.

Staffing at Revenue Office

insufficient for demands

I would like to bring your attention to the painful delay in receiving services at Revenue Office in Bentonville. First and foremost, I must say this has nothing to do with the wonderful staff that patiently and diligently provides the services to residents of Bentonville. They do their jobs to the best of their abilities and beyond. In my estimates, the wait time for a person to be called at the window on an average is an hour. Then one customer on an average takes about 20-25 minutes to finish the work at the window.

The delay, in my opinion, is because of poor staffing. If I am correct, there are about 16 windows and at any given time only six windows are open. During the lunch time, which is most suitable time for many residents to do this type of buisness, only two or three people are available at the kiosks. I think there should be more personnel during lunch hours.

Bentonville and Northwest Arkansas are probably one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation. Yet there is only one Revenue Office in the Bentonville/Centerton area. We need at least two more Revenue Offices for these two cities alone. The state must increase the staffing at the revenue offices. The state should also start services by appointments on a trial basis and dedicate two kiosks for appointment customers.

I have talked to the staff of governor. I personally texted Rep. Jim Dotson and Sen. Bart Hester and it is very unfortunate that neither Rep. Dotson nor Sen. Hester responded. Had I called them about starting Christian prayer in state schools they would have immediately responded to me, in my opinion. This shows the mentality of elected officials of the Bentonville area.

Bentonville residents are frustrated at the service levels we receive from Revenue Office not because of how staff there provides those services, but because this government does not support them. It's a shame.

Biden didn't influence son;

he used post to sway 'deal'

Doug Thompson in a recent column tries to defend Joe Biden by saying that "Hunter Biden turned 21 years old a long time ago. He turns 50 next month. Anyone who strongly believes Hunter's daddy still bears some responsibility for something a half-century-old man did wrong can vote appropriately."

I don't think anyone with an IQ north of a rock thinks Joe forced Hunter to do what he did. What we think is that Joe used his position as vice president to influence the deal, therefore making him guilty.
