Registration times set up for students in county district

The Pulaski County Special School District has opened registration for students who will be new to the district in the 2020-21 school year, as well as for students who live outside the district but want to attend district schools next August through the state's School Choice Act.

Registration will be next month for current students who will be returning to district schools in the coming year.

Following are the dates for specific categories of registration:

• Now through May 1 -- Arkansas School Choice Act applications accepted.

• Ongoing -- Online registration open for kindergarten-through-12th grade students who will be new to the district.

• Feb. 3 to May 1 -- Returning student registration.

• May 18 -- The district's office of equity and pupil services begins accepting permits.

Parents of students who are new to the district can register their children via the online registration gateway. These links are only for students who live in the district but have not previously attended a Pulaski County Special district school:

Parents of students returning to the district for the 2020-2021 school year can use the online registration gateway. Students must be registered online to the school for which their address is zoned.

The Pulaski County Special district's prekindergarten, standards-based program is free and open to qualifying students who turn 3 or 4 years old on or before Aug. 1 of the enrollment year.

Prekindergarten registration for the 2020-21 school year opened this week. Parents of new prekindergarten pupils can register at any elementary school that has a prekindergarten program.
