Police say man stabbed girlfriend in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- A Farmington man was arrested Wednesday night after he stabbed his girlfriend during an argument while they were walking along Joyce Boulevard, according to a police report.

David Strode, 47, of 28 Candace St. in Farmington, was arrested in connection with domestic battery and carrying a weapon, according to the report. Strode was being held Thursday in the Washington County Detention Center with no bond set.

Officers were called to 745 E. Joyce Blvd. at 7:11 p.m. Tasha Thompson-Brown told officers her boyfriend, Strode, stabbed her with a knife and ran away, according to the report. Thompson-Brown was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center.

While officers were still at the scene, Strode walked up and surrendered. Police said Strode told the officers he and Thompson-Brown were walking and started arguing. Strode told police Thompson-Brown slapped him in the face. Strode said he was cleaning his fingers with a knife at the time and when Thompson-Brown slapped him he stabbed her in the lower back.

Strode told police he ran away and threw the knife off a bridge just south of the nearby Walmart store. He took officers to the location but the knife was not found.
