Booneville promotes Crowley

Booneville moved quickly in selecting its next head football coach.

Doc Crowley was promoted to head coach during a school board meeting Tuesday night at Booneville. Crowley succeeds Scott Hyatt, who announced his resignation last week. Crowley spent the past seven years as the Bearcats' offensive coordinator.

Crowley is only the 18th varsity head coach at Booneville, a school with a long tradition of winning in football.

"Doc has a great offensive mind, and the kids love him," Hyatt said. "Doc and his staff are going to do a great job in carrying on the tradition at Booneville."

This is the first head coaching job for Crowley, 36, who has been an assistant coach for 10 years at Booneville. He was also an assistant coach at Pottsville.

Crowley graduated high school in 2003 from Charleston, where he was a standout quarterback for the Tigers.

"I'm beyond excited and look forward to this opportunity," Crowley said. "Both of my parents graduated from Booneville."

Booneville went 8-3 and won the 3A-1 Conference last fall after winning the Class 3A state championship with a 15-0 record in 2018.
