Event highlights winter wonders
Hikes, craft-making and talks will be part of the Wonders of Winter program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area.
Catch and release of live songbirds is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A program on birds of prey is at 11 a.m. Guided hikes, craft-making and indoor programs run from noon to 4 p.m.

Frozen Toes trail run set
The Frozen Toes 5 kilometer and 15 kilometer trail run will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kessler Mountain Regional Park.
This event is good for runners looking to transition to a longer distance trail race or for those who want to race on a trail for the first time.
Registration fee is $30 and includes chip timing, custom logo socks, finisher medals, post-race soup and downloadable race photos. Register online at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/recreation.
Hiking club seeks members
People interested in joining the Ozark Hill Hikers Walking Club are invited to a 25-minute presentation about the club at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. The club's monthly meeting will follow.
Information about the club, its activities and governing organization, America Volkssport Association, will be presented.

Fly fishers gather in Oklahoma
Oklahoma Fly Fishers present the ninth annual Fly Tying Extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Creek County Fairgrounds near Sapulpa, Okla.
Local anglers will tie flies. There will be fishing demonstrations and prize drawings. Barbecue will be available. Kim Rowland Dollins, keynote speaker and fishing guide on the Little Red River near Heber Springs, will present her program at 10 a.m.

Audubon sets three field trips
Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society will host three field trips in February. Anyone interested in birds is welcome. Audubon membership isn't necessary.
A trip will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 1 at the Eagle Watch Nature Trail at Swepco Lake. Meet in the parking area 1 mile west of Gentry on Arkansas 12.
A trip at Devil's Den State Park at 9 a.m. Feb. 15 will be part of the Great Backyard Bird Count. Meet in the parking area south of the Lee Creek bridge.
A trip to view the dancing flight of woodcocks will be at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22 near Lake Wedington in the Ozark National Forest. Dr. David Krementz, an authority on woodcocks, will lead the trip.
