MARIANNA -- Marianna teachers ended their three-day strike Thursday night after the Lee County School Board agreed to conditions the teachers found acceptable. "Now we can all concentrate our actions on educating the students," said Nancy Blount, president of the Lee County Teachers Association. "We're still hopeful." School should resume today, school officials said. The district's five schools remained closed Thursday and its 2,275 students stayed home. The strike began Tuesday morning when the district refused to reimburse teachers for two days of sick pay docked from the paychecks of those who participated in a four-day "sickout" last week. More than 100 teachers called in sick to protest what they claimed was a shortage in a pay increase the school board promised them in December.
