FAYETTEVILLE -- The rubber bumpers on Rolling Hills Drive will be removed and replaced over the next few days.

Work to remove rubber bumper stops from the road will close the eastbound lane from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Saturday, according to a news release from the city.

The bumpers served as dividers between cars on the road and a bike lane. BikeNWA headed the yearlong pilot project through grant from the Walton Family Foundation.

Once removed, the bumpers will be replaced by rumble strips with reflectors, according to the release.

Crews plan to work on the westbound lane of Rolling Hills at a later date.

The project could be delayed because of weather, the release states.
