Pet of the Week

Poncho is our pet of the week.
Poncho is our pet of the week.

Poncho is a recent graduate of the Paws in Prison program who is still looking for his forever home. He received his AKC Canine Good Citizenship certificate, and was a favorite of all the trainers. He can be a little nervous around new people, but warms up quickly and is very affectionate. He is food- and toy-motivated, but is not as high energy as a typical 2-year-old lab. He is in a foster home right now and is being a very good boy. Poncho's only issue is with some other dogs. He's fine with many, but not all. Therefore, we feel it best that he be an only dog. He has not been tested around cats, but caution would be advised. He would be fine with older, dog-savvy children. He will do best in a home where he is primarily an inside dog able to spend a lot of time with the family. A fenced-in yard also would be a really good idea. Poncho has learned to walk nicely on a leash. He enjoys long strolls. Poncho is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. His adoption fee is $250.

Canine Close-Up

June is a great dog. She's not too big, but not too small. She's smart and gets along well with everyone and everything she meets. She was an owner surrender to Malvern Animal Control. She belonged to an elderly man who had to enter a nursing home, and June was his baby. She's now in the Paws in Prison program brushing up on her manners. She is expected to graduate on March 30. She will make someone a wonderful companion. She's special girl. She will do best in a home where she is primarily an inside dog and can spend lots of time with the family. The adoptive family will receive June's training journal. This journal documents her arrival at the facility, her daily training progress, and her interactions with her trainers. June is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. June has heartworm disease. She will be treated for this condition at no cost to her adopters as soon as she graduates from Paws in Prison. Her adoption fee is $250.

Poncho and friends can be adopted through Central Arkansas Rescue Effort for Animals (CARE). More information is available at (501) 603-2273 and careforanimals.org.
