BENTONVILLE -- Work is underway on an 81-unit downtown apartment complex aimed at supporting "sustainable, convenient and luxury living."

The Howard will be located on East Central Avenue, two blocks east of the downtown square, according to a news release.

"Our team is excited to add more downtown housing units that allow residents access to trails, Downtown (Bentonville) Square, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Momentary, as well as so many amazing dining opportunities," said developer Jake Newell of Newell Development.

In addition to hosting a commercial space, the complex will include office space and conference rooms, a fitness area, an outdoor patio and a lounge area, all available to residents. It will also face the Razorback Greenway, according to the release.

"It was important to the project developers and design team that the building have a strong connection to the Razorback Greenway," said Brad Kingsley of Hufft Architecture. "Ultimately, the goal is to help promote cycling as a form of alternate transportation and downplay the reliance on vehicles while increasing residents' quality of life."

Pre-leasing will begin in the fall, with residents expected to move in during the summer or fall of 2021, according to the release.
