ROGERS -- Rogers Heritage just didn't have an answer for Springdale High's Ladarius Wonsley on Friday night.

The junior enjoyed a monster first half to help the Red Bulldogs to a 49-20 victory over the War Eagles in the 7A-West Conference opener for both teams at Gates Stadium.

Wonsley had eight receptions for 222 yards and four touchdowns to help the Red'Dogs (3-1, 1-0 7A-West) to a 49-14 halftime advantage and they cruised to their third straight victory.

Heritage (0-4, 0-1) snapped a string of 21 consecutive Springdale points when Jeb Brown connected with Noah Fricke for a 7-yard touchdown pass on fourth down. That play pulled the War Eagles within 21-14 with 9 minutes, 53 seconds left in the first half.

But Springdale answered with 28 consecutive second-quarter points to apply an early knockout punch. Wonsley had plenty to do with it.

He kept the next drive alive with a one-handed grab on third-and-long. That drive ended with Darrel Parchman's 8-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 28-14.

The Springdale defense got into the act next, forcing Heritage to turn the ball over on downs near midfield. Junior Andre Sparks roared through to sack Brown for an 8-yard loss on fourth down.

Springdale quarterback Conner Hutchins then hooked up with Wonsley for a 51-yard touchdown catch and run. The Red'Dogs then recovered a sky kick on the ensuing kickoff and it was Hutchins-to-Wonsley for an 11-yard score and a 42-14 Springdale lead.

Springdale coach Zak Clark said Heritage tried to vary coverages, but they couldn't slow Wonsley.

"He's tough," Clark said. "They started doing some things differently. We know as it moves on we're probably gonna see a lot of different coverages, a lot of different types of things. But tonight what can I said this is the fourth straight week he's had just a monster game.

"We played really well especially midway through the first quarter, second quarter on. I was just proud of our guys. We executed better tonight than we have."

Hutchins enjoyed a big night as well, completed 14 of 23 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for another score in just two quarters of action.

Heritage looked as though it would hang tough early, taking the opening kickoff and scoring on a four-play, 80-yard drive. J.J. Webb scored on a 26-yard run for a 7-0 War Eagles lead with more than 10 minutes left in the opening quarter.

But Springdale responded. The Red'Dogs covered 64 yards on only two plays to tie the game as Wonsley scored on a 37-yard strike. Springdale pushed the lead to 21-7 as Hutchins found Wonsley for a 17-yard touchdown on third-and-5 late in the first quarter.
