FAYETTEVILLE -- A man was sentenced to federal prison Monday for selling guns stolen from a Centerton store.

Cornelius Anderson was sentenced to five years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Anderson was fined $1,900.

Police were told in October that Anderson had a large number of firearms at his Fayetteville apartment, including rifles and pistols, according to court documents. Detectives set up surveillance and saw a man leave Anderson's apartment with a backpack and a white sheet that appeared to be concealing a rifle, according to the documents. The man went into a wooded area and returned a short time later without the backpack, sheet or rifle.

Police found seven pistols and a rifle in the woods, some of which had been stolen from a pawn shop in Centerton.

Anderson admitted selling guns and to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
