ARKANSAS vs. COLORADO STATE: HOW WE SEE IT

CLAY HENRY, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED

More freshmen will figure in the game plan each week. That’s encouraging news long-term, but it produces growing pains as mistakes are a constant. Still, it’s the right approach. The freshmen prevail this week. Arkansas, 31-17.

DUDLEY E. DAWSON, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED

I’ve been Team Starkel since Day 1. They are not going to win many, but they are going to win this one. Arkansas, 35-14.

MATT JONES, WHOLE HOG SPORTS

Colorado State lost its playmakers from last season and Arkansas seems to have found one in the second half at Ole Miss. If Nick Starkel is the quarterback, the Razorbacks might have the type of performance fans have waited to see from Chad Morris’ offense. Arkansas, 42-24.

HARRY KING, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED

It is hard to believe that beating a Mountain West Conference team is accurately labeled a must-win for the Razorbacks. No matter the quarterback, Arkansas must run the ball better. Arkansas, 27-17.

SCOTTIE BORDELON, WHOLE HOG SPORTS

Arkansas cannot allow a disappointing result in its SEC opener to carry into this one. I don’t think it will. The offense looks more fluid and takes a step forward with Nick Starkel in charge. Arkansas, 31-17.

SETH CAMPBELL, WHOLE HOG SPORTS

The offense shows some life with Nick Starkel at the helm, but it takes a Connor Limpert field goal at the end of the game to win it for the Hogs. Arkansas, 31-28.

BART POHLMAN, HOG POD

Colorado State, just like last year, isn’t a particularly good football team. This is a revenge game for the Razorbacks, and you’d like to think they respond in this spot. If they don’t, it could be another long season. The Hogs do just enough to win. Arkansas, 24-17

JOHN NABORS, THE MORNING RUSH

Hogs get back on the winning track by getting a close revenge victory over the Rams. Nick Starkel gets his first win as QB1.

ALYSSA ORANGE, KNWA

If Nick Starkel gets the start against the Rams, I see the Hogs having a lot more success on offense. They’ll need to keep up with a Colorado State team that put up 31 against Colorado.

TOMMY CRAFT, THE MORNING RUSH

The Arkansas offense has struggled to find an identity, but maybe a quarterback has been found in Nick Starkel. Could he be the needed difference-maker? Arkansas, 28-20.

TYE RICHARDSON, HALF TIME

Colorado State comes in for another upset bid, but Arkansas finds the right track, barely. Arkansas, 27-21.

CHIP SOUZA, NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

The remainder of the season may swing in the balance of this game. Nick Starkel gets his first start at quarterback and we’ll find out if he’s able to lead this team and this program. The Rams are solid and this game, nor any game for that matter, is a gimme for the Razorbacks. Arkansas 20-17.
