Buddhist Society hosts talk, retreat

The Ecumenical Buddhist Society, 1516 W. Third St., will host a free public talk and meditation from 7-8:45 p.m. Sept. 20.

The society will also host a Vipassana Buddhist meditation retreat, “Exploring Emptiness and Embodiment: Traversing the Divide in Spiritual Practice,” taught by Terry Furstenau and Joe Mc-Cormack. The retreat will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 (participants are asked to bring a sack lunch), and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 22.

The suggested cost is $120; the minimum accepted is $70, and scholarships can be requested at ebsretreat@gmail.com. Online registration is at ebslr.org/events. Checks can be made out to and mailed to the society, at P.O. Box 561, Little Rock, AR 72203.

Caregiver workshop set for Sept. 20

Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive in Little Rock, will hold a family caregiver workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20.

The free workshop is intended for those caring for a loved one with early-stage dementia, according to the church.

Donna LeBlanc will give presentations on topics related to caregiving including information about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia; expectations for caregivers; self-care; and the benefits of support groups.
