Teachers and students dedicated the new Fayetteville Education Dock today at Happy Hollow Elementary in Fayetteville.

The dock will help the pond serve as an outdoor laboratory for students. "The biggest thing is this is a student-led project," Drew Yoakum, a teacher at Happy Hollow Elementary in Fayetteville, said. About 150 students were involved in the project over five years, he said.

Students will be able to study aquatic life, animals and plants along the shoreline and also kayak on the pond. Students from Fayetteville High School outdoor education classes helped the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stock 300 channel catfish in the pond during the event.
