Northwest Arkansas Community College

Kimberly Kelley was recently named the Golden Eagle Award recipient for November at Northwest Arkansas Community College .

NWACC faculty member Thea Kaull nominated Kelley and said, "Kim is a strong student, and helps other students understand the material in their nursing course. She is also helpful in guiding other students in finding direction or resources for the course. I really think she represents the students at NWACC and embraces the idea of the campus as a family ..."

"Going back to school to earn my nursing degree, after being a school teacher for 13 years, has been a challenge, but I consider myself a life-long learner," said Kelley.

NWACC students are nominated for the Golden Eagle Award by a faculty member, club advisor, administrator or other staff person. Each candidate must have at least a 3.0 grade point average in a minimum of six credit hours of class and demonstrate social awareness, personal development, involvement in varied co-curricular and community activities, and a commitment to education.

The student is presented with a certificate of recognition and a $100 check from the NWACC Foundation at the NWACC Board of Trustees meeting.

Monthly recipients of the Golden Eagle Award may become eligible for consideration as the college's Distinguished Golden Eagle Award, an honor presented annually that includes additional scholarship money.

Missouri Military Academy Corps of Cadets

On Oct. 19, Kaedon Moubarak of Fayetteville was officially inducted into the 131st Missouri Military Academy Corps of Cadets at the MMA Passing Through Ceremony.

The Crucible is a series of mental and physical obstacles that challenge cadets as an individual and a team, with tasks such as a 5-mile hike, a 1.5 mile rope carry, climbing challenges, conditioning drills and more. Maroon Phase training and handbook tests consist of learning MMA regulations, honor code and decorum.
