Champions lauded in service to youth

Pulaski County Youth Services hosted the 2019 Champions of Youth luncheon at the Governor's Mansion on Oct. 29.

Guests were welcomed to the event by co-chairmen Keisha Patterson and Jimmy Warren. Warren noted the fundraiser was one of the primary ways Youth Services funds after-school programs in the county. They include free ACT Prep classes and mini ACT Prep Boot Camps, he said, noting that those classes can help raise student's ACT scores by 2 to 3 points. Donna Terrell served as emcee and County Judge Barry Hyde gave the opening remarks.

Honored at the luncheon were Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, Visionary Award; Little Rock Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Lifetime Achievement Award; Pulaski County Special School District, Pulaski County Youth Services Partner in Education; Broadway Joe Booker, Director's Choice Award; and Ned Perme was named Champion of the Year.
