My favorite space is: My living room
Why? This is the center of my home where people embody warmth and peace. Every morning I open the blinds to embrace the beautiful light. I love this house for the amount of light it receives. To me, light is like taking a breath. I love to daydream, draw and journal here or just sit in my oversize chair and gaze at the trees in the backyard. I picked colors that are warm and calming. Lots of burnt orange, cranberry and chocolate in my accent pillows, in the large rug in the center of the room, in my tables and accent pieces.My own art, as well as gifted artwork, hangs here. My favorite is my acrylic painting The Snitch Stays Near the Switch. It reminds me of the humor in my childhood and how my parents were strong disciplinarians.
On my fireplace mantel is the word blessed, in gold. It reminds me on days I wake up feeling less than grateful that I am blessed to be alive and living in a loving, peaceful home.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Fill the wall over my couch with a huge piece of my artwork. I have lived here for 11 years and have yet to decide what I want to paint for this space.
