BENTONVILLE -- Going to the big game Friday night? The School District hopes patrons bring more than just their school spirit.

The district's Bright Futures program is using the showdown between its two high school football teams as an opportunity to collect toiletries and personal-hygiene products from fans entering the stadium at West High School in Centerton.

The donations will be distributed to less fortunate families in the community. The program's "Keep It Clean" campaign calls for items such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorant and lice treatment kits, said Amanda Musick, the district's director of student services.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday at West High School for the matchup between Bentonville High School's Tigers and West High's Wolverines. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Bright Futures coordinates the efforts of schools, businesses and community members to meet the needs of students in crisis, often within 24 hours.
