Several road resurfacing projects set to begin

SPRINGDALE -- The Arkansas Department of Transportation approved several overlay projects in Northwest Arkansas that should start in the next few weeks.

The biggest project will resurface 14.1 miles of U.S. 412 from the Benton County line through Springdale and end at Butterfield Coach Road. U.S. 412 is designated Sunset Avenue, Thompson Street and Robinson Avenue.

APAC-Central of Fayetteville was the low bidder at $7.9 million. Work is expected to be completed later this year.

Two overlays are planned in Benton County. The first is for 1.9 miles of various streets in Cave Springs and includes South Rainbow Road and West Wallis Road.

Decco Contractors-Paving of Rogers was awarded the contract at $296,600. Completion is expected midyear.

The second project is to resurface 5.6 miles of Walton Boulevard between Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard and Interstate 49 in Bentonville.

APAC-Central of Fayetteville was awarded the contract at $3.7 million. Completion is expected midyear.

In Carroll County, there's a project to reseal 5.7 miles of Carroll County 35 and Carroll County 37 near Berryville. Hutchens Asphalt of Cassville, Mo., was awarded the contract at $399,111. Completion is expected midyear.

A second project in Carroll County is to construct a 0.3 mile extension of Freeman Avenue in Berryville. Emery Sapp & Sons of Columbia, Mo., was awarded the contract at $748,989. Completion is expected late this year.
