Arkansas Arts Center patrons get a look at future construction

Arkansas Art Center patrons were invited to a presentation about the future of the current building on May 15.

The highlight of the announcement was that private donors have pledged more than $86 million to remake the center.

Guests enjoyed champagne, wine and passed hors d'oeuvres before the program. Speakers included Harriet and Warren Stephens, the Art Center's Capital Campaign co-chairmen, who revealed the campaign goal and totals raised to date and announced the public launch of the fundraising campaign. Founding principal of Studio Gang Architects, Jeanne Gang, showed new images of the project noting that it's about transforming a place that has historic roots into a building for the 21st century that is welcoming to all community members.

After the announcement, guests were invited to a reception in the gallery of the exhibit "Then, Now, Next: Reimagining the Arkansas Arts Center" which examines the Arts Center's past, present and future.
