The Arkansas Department of Transportation on Wednesday opened low bids on 36 construction projects worth $52.8 million, including a project to repave 14.1 miles of U.S. 412 in Washington County.

The low bid of $7.9 million on the U.S. 412 job, which stretches west from Butterfield Coach Road in Springdale to the Benton County line, was submitted by APAC-Central of Fayetteville.

The project was one of 13 on state routes on which low bids worth $44.6 million were opened.

The department also opened low bids on 15 county-road projects worth $4.9 million and eight city-street projects worth $3.3 million.

Other significant projects, including the low bid and the contractor:

Repave an 11.9-mile section of Arkansas 4 from Arkansas City to Arkansas 1 in Desha County, $7.6 million, Pine Bluff and Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff.

Repave an 18.1-mile section of U.S. 70 between Arkansas 227 in Garland County and Glenwood in Pike County, $6 million, Cranford Construction Co. of North Little Rock.
