SPRINGDALE -- Northwest Arkansas outslugged the most powerful team in the Texas League to claim a 12-10 win over Tulsa in Texas League baseball Tuesday night at Arvest Ballpark.
Northwest Arkansas (15-22) snapped a 9-9 tie in the bottom of the seventh on Rivera's sacrifice fly to drive in Khalil Lee, who led off the inning with a single and moved to third on Gabriel Cancel's double.
The Naturals added two more in the eighth thanks to a Tulsa throwing error and a passed ball, which turned out to be big.
The Drillers (20-17) pushed across a run in the ninth on Cody Thomas' RBI-double after Christian Santana reached base leading off the inning on a two-base error by Northwest Arkansas center fielder Nick Heath.
But Naturals left-hander Gabe Speier struck out D.J. Peters to notch the save, his sixth of the season.
Speier picked up the six-out save, allowing an unearned run on one hit. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.
Cancel went 3-for-5, including his seventh home run of the season, and drove in two runs. Gavin Lux and Keibert Ruiz led Tulsa with three hits and two RBIs each.
The Naturals have hit the fewest home home runs in the Texas League (17) coming into the game but hit five against the Drillers, who have hit the most in the league (51).
Peters lined a two-out, two-run double to left field to tie the game at 9 as part of a three-run seventh inning.
• Tulsa starting pitcher Michael Bowden spent six seasons in the Major League from 2008-2013 and pitched the past two years in South Korea before signing a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in March.
• Heath picked up his Texas League-leading 20th stolen base in a four-run third inning for the Naturals.
• Northwest Arkansas hit back-to-back home runs twice in the game. Taylor Featherston and Xavier Fernandez did it in the third inning with two solo shots. Anderson Miller hit a two-run blast and Travis Jones followed with a solo home run in the fifth.
