Where I live: Little Rock's Pleasant Valley

Occupation: Marketing communications specialist by day, artist in my spare time.

My favorite space is: Our deck

Why? I love listening to the creek, watching the sunset and stars pop out in the night sky. It's a perfect place to see children and pups play. They go on "panda bear hunts" in the bamboo, catch lightning bugs and look for turtles and frogs. We have one tree that bent in an ice storm but didn't break. I think of it as a visual reminder of strength and powering through what comes our way. I like to see the signs of spring and summer appear from my perch here. Tahitian daffodils are the first happy, yellow faces to peep out showing longer days are ahead. I also have a forever fern that is a constant. The creeping jenny from my cousin has taken off so now I'm testing my green thumb. Last year I planted peonies, roses and irises, passed along from a friend's garden hoping to see beautiful flowers in the future. The dogwood and shades of green this time of year are my favorite. The view is inspiration for many of my paintings. When the weather is nice the "Yoginos" set up here for our Sunday stretch. It's a great gathering spot for friends and family -- which makes it extra special.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: A California climate without bugs would be nice but this is Arkansas and I love our natural state.
